BEFORE YOU RIDE

Class requirements

Here's everything you need to know before showing up on class day. Come prepared, come ready to learn, and we'll handle the rest.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be 6 years of age or older

  • Must be able to ride a bicycle without training wheels

  • A desire to learn and have fun

REQUIRED ATTIRE

These are the minimum requirements. Additional protective gear is always encouraged.

Boots

Over-the-ankle boots. Sturdy sole. No sneakers or sandals.

Helmet

DOT-approved helmet. Dirt/off-road style strongly preferred.

Pants

Full-length pants. Denim, riding pants, or similar coverage.  Must be sturdy material.

Eye protection

Goggles or safety glasses. Required if helmet has no face shield.

Shirt

Long-sleeve shirt. Full arm coverage required.

Gloves

Lightweight gloves. Not heavy work gloves or winter gloves.

WHAT TO BRING ON CLASS DAY

Portable chair

Classes run a full day with classroom and field sessions. Bring a folding or camp chair for comfort during instruction breaks.

Lunch

There are no food vendors on-site. Pack a lunch and any snacks you'll need to keep your energy up through a full day of riding.

Drinks & hydration

Bring plenty of water and drinks for the day. Riding and outdoor activity in the mid-west's summer heat means staying well-hydrated is essential.

Good to know: Classes are held outdoors rain or shine. Dress appropriately for the weather while still meeting the required attire. Sunscreen, bug spray, and a light layer for cooler mornings are all smart additions to your bag.

Questions about gear or what to bring?

Not sure if your equipment meets requirements? Reach out before class day and one of our coaches will be happy to help. We want you ready to ride — not turned away at the gate.
